The kit was just in time for their match against the Pirates rugby team in the Pirates Grand Challenge.
Alberton’s Elande rugby team launched their new team kit, just in time for the match against Pirates.
The unveiling ceremony took place at its clubhouse Elandsfontein, in Alberton, on April 10. The evening kicked off with opening remarks by Alberton Rugby Club chairman, Rory Lategan.

“I would like to extend a word of welcome to our players, coaches, management, the Mandalas, and Junior clubs’ management. And I would like to greet Mr Neville Jardin, the president of the Golden Lions Rugby Union,” said Lategan. He also acknowledged representatives of companies who sponsor the club.
“To our sponsors, I greet you all. Byran Stephen from Guatruss, Dirk Groblaar from Raceview Motors, Cornelia Van Niekerk from Fines For U, Fernando De Arbreu from Meat World Verwoedpark, Francois Jansen from Fox Security, Diane Luck from Johnson’s Alberton, Charl Myburg from Lauren Blue, and Emile Van Zyl from Heritage Sport,” Lategan said.
The club’s lapa was filled with players, coaches, and supporters of the Elande to witness the unveiling of the new kit. “Our community does not exist in a silo. The concept ‘Ubuntu’ – I am because you are – comes to mind. A reciprocal relationship needs to exist to ensure the longevity of our sponsors, and in turn, the continued existence of the Alberton Rugby Club,” added Lategan.
