Wits withdraws from Castle Larger Grand Challenge fixture
Wits informed the Alberton Elande Rugby Club on Thursday that all their teams are withdrawing from the games scheduled for Saturday, July 12.
Games scheduled for the day form part of the Castle Lager Grand Challenge, which includes teams from three universities and six open clubs.
These are Alberton, Pirates. Wanderers, Raiders, Randfontein, Diggers, UJ, Wits and NWU.
Elande was awarded five log points because of the withdrawal, which puts them one step closer to being in the running for the play-offs.
In the previous clash between Alberton Elande and Wits on June 13, all Elande teams clinched victory over Wits.
Scores – all in favour of Alberton Elande:
U19 – 24-27, U21 – 36-5, third team – 26-19, second team – 21-23 and first team 50-33

First team vs Soweto – 14:40
The Springbok vs Italy game will be shown at the club at 17:00.
