Organisers call on gyms and fighters for Halloween championship
Youth MMA athletes and gyms are invited to enter the Youth MMA Championship (YMMAC) 9 Halloween special on October 31, with organisers seeking competitors across several male and female weight divisions to ensure exciting match-ups.
The Youth MMA Championship (YMMAC) 9 Halloween special is set to take place on October 31, bringing youth mixed martial arts (MMA) athletes together for a day of competition, with organisers calling on gyms and young fighters to help fill the remaining divisions.
The venue is still to be announced, with doors opening at 08:30. Weigh-ins and medical checks will take place from 07:30, while the fights are scheduled to start at 09:00.
Entry costs R50 per person, and prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed participants on the day in keeping with the Halloween theme.
Organisers seek competitors across divisions
Organisers are appealing to gyms and youth athletes to enter the available divisions to help create competitive and well-matched bouts.
In the male category, athletes are needed for the following divisions:
• Youth B: 52kg and 67kg
• Youth C: 44kg, 52kg, 57kg and 62kg
• Youth D: 37kg
• Youth aged five to six: 16kg
• Youth aged seven to nine: 22kg and 25kg
In the female category, organisers are looking for competitors in these divisions:
• Youth A: Welterweight at 77.1kg
• Youth aged seven to nine: 25kg and 31kg
Filling these divisions will help organisers put together suitable match-ups and give more young athletes the opportunity to compete.
Vendors invited to book stalls
The event will also offer opportunities for vendors interested in setting up stalls on the day. Interested vendors are invited to make bookings ahead of the event.
For bookings, vendors can contact Shane Carr at 083 722 2704 or email shane@valhallammasa.co.za.
Athletes and gyms can submit entries through the event’s SmoothComp page.
With the Halloween theme adding to the day’s festivities, the organisers are encouraging youth athletes and gyms to participate and help make the ninth YMMAC event a success.
