Laerskool Randhart’s SPCA outreach has wrapped up on a heartwarming high, with the Rantie community showing just how much can be achieved when everyone pulls together.

A special thank you went to Wynne de Jager, a Takealot manager, and the parents at the school, who made what the school described as an “incredible donation,” making the outreach even bigger and more special.

According to a Laerskool Randhart statement, the scale of the donation was “truly magnificent,” with 85 bags of dog and cat food received. The bags ranged from 5kg to 20kg and catered for puppies, senior dogs and cats.

The donation also included 15 bags of cat litter and 15 bags of food for rabbits and rodents. The sheer quantity meant that six men needed adequate time just to unload everything from the truck.

According to Laerskool Randhart, De Jager had participated in the SPCA outreach with the school last year and had seen firsthand the difference the project makes.

He then recognised an opportunity to involve Takealot in an initiative that could make a real difference in the lives of animals.

The school said Takealot now wants to start donating on an even larger, national scale in future. The generosity did not end there. Thanks to the support of the Rantie community, enough food, toys and blankets were collected to support the Alberton SPCA and also lend a helping hand to the Vereeniging SPCA.

“From the smallest tin of food to the largest bag of dog food, from a soft blanket to a new toy, every donation made a tail wag and helped a paw in need,” the school said.

The school extended its thanks to its parents, learners, staff and the entire Rantie community, saying: “When Rantie hearts beat as one, we can make a massive difference.” The Alberton SPCA also expressed its appreciation, saying: “A huge thank you for this incredible donation; we are truly grateful.”
