Government officials walk the talk

JOBURG - Thousands of people took part in 702 walk talk at Emmarentia's Marks Park in Johannesburg.

SA Deputy President Kgalema Motlhanthe, Joburg Mayor Parks Tau, City Manager Trevor Fowler, struggle veteran Armad Kathrada among others and former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe were among those who walked the talk.

Motlhanthe said he decided to take part for the sake of keeping a healthy lifestyle adding, “this is a wellness walk and I’m doing this walk for South Africans living with HIV/Aids.”

Motlhanthe, Tau and Fawler took the 8km walk, which is the most favoured distance. More than 55 000 people took part in the event, with over 20 thousand people participating in the 8km distance.

This year, about 21 000 people walked the 5km. The concluded with some entertainment by Micasa and Flash Republic among others.
