DA receives e-toll documents

JOBURG - Sanral has handed over the controversial e-tolling documents to the DA.

However, the documents came with omissions, the party’s Ian Ollis said.

He said his party received 17 lever-arch folders with tender documents (24 items), addendums (24 items), clarifications (8 items), contract documents (4 items), and the Electronic Toll Collections (ETC) offer (2 items).

“On inspection of the documents received, however, we have noted that three items from the 65-item contract tender register had been omitted: a financial memorandum of the tender documentation and two items of the ETC submission,” said Ollis.

He said they will request that Sanral provide the outstanding documents without delay or additional costs, adding that they would study the documents received, while awaiting delivery of the omitted items

“We will scrutinise the documents specifically for Sanral’s monthly financial obligation to the ETC, the structuring of the collection fees, how they intend to prosecute e-toll transgressors, as well as an opt-out clause for e-tolling in Gauteng,” he added.

Delivery of the documents follow the DA’s successful request for Sanral’s e-toll contract documents via a Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) application submitted in June this year.

Sanral agreed to provide all 5 848 pages of the contractual agreements.
