Potholes now as big as jacuzzis

ALEXANDRA - The potholes on Vincent Tshabalala Road, Alexandra, which were reported by this paper in weekending 28 February, have not been fixed.

Motorists driving on Vincent Tshabalala Road between 6th and 7th Avenues, Alexandra do so at their own risk.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency has still not fixed the potholes which were reported by this paper in Potholes as big as bath tubs, week ending 28 February.

Some of the potholes have become bigger and smaller ones are developing on the same section of road presumably as a result of the recent rains.

Residents of nearby informal homes who declined to give their names said the left lane on this section of road was almost closed to motorists. At busy times traffic gets congested when motorists compete to squeeze into the right lane. They said they were just waiting for a major accident to happen if the potholes were not fixed urgently.

City of Johannesburg spokesperson Nthatise Modingoane said he sent the request for comment to the roads agency three weeks ago but they still hadn’t responded.
