“Specific details of the charges levelled against Nair cannot be made public at this stage, in pursuance of protecting the rights of both Pikitup and the employee,” Pikitup spokesperson Pansy Oyedele said.
“Nair has been suspended and formerly charged – in summary, on matters relating to supply chain management and Municipal Finance Management Act, pending a disciplinary enquiry instituted against her.”
Nair’s pre-disciplinary enquiry will be held on 27 March.
The enquiry confirms the city council’s commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance and to protecting the right to fair employment practices extended to its employees, Oyedele said.
