Flabba’s funeral affects soccer matches

ALEXANDRA - Football matches of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association which were scheduled for Alexandra Stadium over the weekend have been moved to Marlboro Sports Complex.

This was done to accommodate the funeral of Alexandra’s most talented and popular rapper, Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi, which takes place on Sunday (15 March). Funeral organisers will use the the stadium for a night vigil on Saturday, and the funeral procession will leave from the stadium on Sunday morning. Flabba, as he was popularly known to his fans, was stabbed to death in the early hours of 9 March following an alleged argument between the rapper and his girlfriend, Sindisiwe Manqele.

Manqele has since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court charged with murder and her case was remanded to 16 March for a bail hearing as police continue to probe into the circumstances of the case.

Alex football secretary general Mafika Morajane said,”We would like to inform all our clubs, officials and fans that games of fixture L308, which were scheduled for 14 and 15 March at the Alexandra Stadium will now be moved to Marlboro Sports Complex as scheduled.”

He urged clubs and officials, including fans, to make the necessary changes and take note of the new venue and offered his apologies, saying the matter was beyond their control.
