Two Alex men have appeared in Alexandra Magistrate’s Court and were remanded in the cells pending sentencing for the rape of a woman in 2013.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the woman was raped on her way home from Millie’s tavern in Alex by two men. She was walking home after midnight with a female friend when they were confronted by two men. The victim and her friend ran in different directions when approached by the two men, but she was caught and threatened with death before they took turns raping her.
One of the rapists is known by the victim.
