Residents commend Riverpark Clinic development

ALEXANDRA - Developments at the 1800 square metre site for the Riverpark Clinic have been commended by nearby residents.

Developments at the 1 800m2 site for the Riverpark Clinic have been commended by nearby residents.

“It’s a good development for the community which currently relies on the small, and always crammed, Eastbank Clinic. Flu and other ailments will soon be unheard of among Riverpark, Lombardy and Eastbank residents as we will only walk a few metres for treatment and medication,” said resident Tshepo Mmona.

The construction of the multi-million rand facility started in April and is scheduled for completion in September. The main contractor, Solitaire Construction’s site foreman John Pallet, and senior site administrator Frans Khoala, said the local client liaison officer helped them to engage 50 local employees and to sub-contract three local bricklaying and two steel companies.

They said the building plan includes rooms for TB, antiretroviral, and pre- and postnatal treatment, counselling, emergencies, consultation and administration services and a paved parking area.

“[It will also include greening with trees and shrubs and the design is also modern and will enhance the area,” said Pallet.

While commending local employment generation, Mmona expressed concern about some of the sub-contractors who, he said, paid their employees late. “This will discredit the company and make the local businesses look untrustworthy,” he concluded.
