Metro police at the scene said they would investigate the incident further. At the time of the crash, the road was closed to traffic.

Alex News was at the accident scene and journalist Nkululeko Zilibokwe said the diesel which the truck had been carrying had spilt onto the road in the area of the crash. “Emergency services are here and are trying to clear the road,” he said.

While no injuries were reported, a fire engine was called to the scene as Metro police feared the spilled diesel may cause a fire.

Residents in the vicinity of the accident were seen collecting the spilled diesel and carrying it away from the accident scene.
