Attempted murder case referred for dispute resolution

ALEXANDRA - The Alex Magistrate Court referred an attempted murder case for dispute resolution in the interest of good neighbourliness.

The Alex Magistrates’ Court referred an attempted murder case for dispute resolution in the interest of good neighbourliness.

The case between two men who own adjacent plots in Blue Hills in Midrand, resulted after the victim had been shot at by his neighbour who was incensed by the noise of a truck the complainant was driving on his plot.

The court heard that on 4 March this year, the truck owner was approached by his neighbour while moving one of his vehicles.

The neighbour allegedly demanded the truck keys and when the truck owner refused, the neighbour apparently drew his licenced gun and fired twice, prompting the truck owner to flee on foot. It was not known if the shots were directed at the victim.

A legal expert said if the dispute resolution option failed, the court will have to adjudicate the matter as an attempted murder case.
