Police investigate two deaths hours apart

ALEXANDRA – Police investigate Sunday morning murders.


Police officers are investigating the deaths of two men whose bodies were found in the streets on 20 January.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malathi said the first discovery at the intersection of 15th and Alfred Baloyi avenues was reported by residents at about 1am. “The victim who was unknown, had a bullet wound on the head and his body was taken to a government mortuary,” Malatji said.

The second victim was found still alive at about 6am at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Vincent Tshabalala Road. According to Malatji, “A man found at the scene told the police that the victim who was later certified dead had been assaulted by community members.”

His body was also taken to a government mortuary.
