Two mothers accused of negligence and culpable homicide to return to court next month

ALEXANDRA– The mothers of four children will return to the Alexandra Regional Court next month.

The case of two mothers whose children died in a fire incident on 16 September last year was postponed to 5 April.

Bongiwe Ngubeni and Nelisiwe Fihlani appeared in the Alexandra Regional Court on 5 March after the case was postponed on 24 February to give the defence team enough time to prepare.

The magistrate said the matter was postponed to allow the state and the defence legal team to decide which charges the pair will be prosecuted for.

Last year the two mothers were initially charged with negligence and culpable homicide after it was alleged that they had left their four children who perished in the fire in the care of a 14-year-old girl while they were in the night club during the night of the incident.
