Suspects nabbed with metro cops uniforms

Eight suspects arrested with metro cops uniforms.

Eight suspects were detained at Alex and Sandton Police Stations pending a court appearance for hijacking and possession of police apparel.

Alex Police Station spokesperson Captain, Stephen Malatji said the suspects were apprehended on 14 March in a joint operation of the Metro police, SAPS and Magma Security company officers.

The officers tracked a suspected hijacked Renault Sandero vehicle to an East Bank home where one suspect was apprehended. The vehicle was searched and uniforms, including Metro police uniforms for high ranking officers, were found inside.

“The suspect, in turn, led the police to their kingpin in Tembisa who led them to Kelvin where a hijacked truck was found with six suspects unloading from it, electronic equipment including, washing machines, television sets and refrigerators,” Malatji said.
