Taxi owner shot dead, another escapes hail of bullets

ALEXANDRA – Taxi owner brutally murdered, assailants on the run.


Alexandra police are pursuing gunmen who pumped 19 bullets into a taxi owner killing him instantly while his companion escaped unscathed.

The 32-year-old deceased was from Madala Hostel which is next to the crime scene at the intersection of 2nd and Alfred Nzo avenues. According to police spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji, the incident occurred at 5.30pm on 24 July. “The victims said to cousins and taxi owners under Alexandra and Kempton Park Taxi associations were attacked while in a stationary SUV.

“The assailants approached them from the front and shot them with what looked like assault rifles before disappearing.”

Malatji said the police are working round the clock to curb this carnage before it gets out of hand.
