Bodies remain unidentified after community takes matters into their hands

ALEXANDRA – The pair is alleged to have been behind a string of robberies that had been taking place in the area.

No one has been arrested after two bodies were found burnt in Alexandra on the night of 5 October.

Speaking to Alex News,  provincial police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the allegations were that the pair was behind a string of robberies that had been taking place in the area. The community then decided to take matters into their own hands.

Dlamini said the pair was assaulted and burnt to death after they were caught running towards a hostel in the area.

“The two people are unknown at this stage,” added Dlamini.

The two victims of apparent mob justice were found on the corner of Roosevelt Street and Second Avenue in Alexandra.

The police have called on anyone who may have information on the relatives of the victims to come forward.
