Woman up for bank loan fraud at Alex Magistrates’ Court

ALEXANDRA – Female fraudster awaits court verdict.

A woman from Orange Farm charged with fraud is appearing in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

Nomachunu Lembetha (36) who was granted R10 000 bail for the offence which occurred on 29 January will reappear in court for further hearing on 19 March. She submitted a fraudulent loan application of R607 000 to Nedbank using a fake payslip reflecting a monthly salary of R27 900 from a non-existent company.

Discrepancies were also noted in the salary calculations. Attached was also a fraudulent bank statement from Capitec Bank reflecting a steady inflow from the fake salary into the account. When called, the bank declined having any credit in an account bearing her name. This lead to her arrest.
