The South African Police Services in Alexandra responded to a house robbery and murder case on 29 July at around 3.30am.
According to the spokesperson for the Alexandra Police Station, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, upon arrival, police found the deceased man lying naked with a firearm wound on his left armpit.
The deceased, a 26-year-old, was identified by his girlfriend. Mbatha said that the girlfriend alleged that she and the victim were asleep when they were awoken by two unknown men, one armed with a firearm, who demanded a cell phone and money.
An altercation then ensued and one of the suspects allegedly shot the victim, who was later certified dead by paramedics. “One cartridge and projectile were confiscated from the scene. The suspects also took a flat-screen TV set and left,” said Mbatha.
