Alex man arrested for fornication of young girls
ALEX – A man Alex children fondly referred to as 'uncle' will appear in court soon on charges of raping the young girls in the township.
An Alexandra man has been arrested on allegations of fornication with young girls in the township, one of whom is allegedly a niece of the suspect.
The niece lives on the same property as the accused while the other girls are playmates of his sister’s child. The suspect was arrested following an incident of mob justice on 30 October at about 10pm.
According to Alexandra police spokesperson, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the station received a complaint about an act of mob justice involving the suspect and on arrival at the scene, they were approached by a female who alleged she was the sister of an eight-year-old girl said to have been raped by the suspect.
She said the eight-year-old had told her that the man who was attacked by the community and often referred to as ‘uncle’, lived in the same yard as the victim and had allegedly raped her. The ‘uncle’ is said to have often called the eight-year-old and other children to his house and given them sweets.
“After that, he would lock the house and play music and instruct them to dance on top of him while lying on the bed facing up,” Mbatha said.
He added that the children claimed the suspect usually inserted his fingers in the children’s private parts and would allegedly order them not to say a word to anyone.
Other mothers of the children also came forward and corroborated the story and claimed their children too were raped by the suspect, who has since been arrested and detained at Alexandra police cells awaiting an appearance in court.
