Three robbery suspects caught red-handed at an Alex business

ALEX – The complainant managed to escape and went to the nearby police station where he reported the matter.

A complainant alleged that on 27 October, he and his colleagues were robbed at their workplace at the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce on the corner of Arkwright and 2nd Street in Wynberg, at around 8.30am.

According to Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant said they were on top of the roof of the building, working when suddenly three suspects approached and instructed them to get down.

“When they asked for the reason they were told Alexandra is on strike, no one is supposed to work. They then descended only to find that there were other people who were made to lie down,” explained Mbatha.

“They were told to join them and lie down and hand over their cell phones. The complainant was also ordered to hand over his car keys. The suspects were armed with knives.”

The complainant managed to escape and went to the nearby police station where he reported the matter. Accompanied by the police they went back to the scene where they found the three suspects still there. They were arrested and detained at Alexandra police cells.
