BLC and Gift of the Givers donate bread and beans to Alex NGOs
ALEXANDRA – A portion of the donations will go towards assisting those affected by Covid and the recent looting.
To help rebuild Alexandra after the recent looting, BLC Plant Company partnered with Gift of the Givers to donate 2 500 freshly baked loaves of bread and 2 500 cans of baked beans to 10 Alexandra-based non-profit organisations on July 20.

Alexandra resident and arts creative Refilwe Pieterse who lent a helping hand to distribute the donations said, “I never saw Alex fall like this before.
“Today a new story is written, a story of how we face our fears, a child will get their education, a mother will eat together with her children, and a father will protect his community.”

The food would be distributed to the elderly, care homes, orphanages, and the most vulnerable, and among the recipients were Sibusiso Cosmos Zwane Foundation, Hope Giving, Legae La Alex, Alex Arts Academy, and Alexandra Men’s Forum, among others.

Gift of the Givers volunteer Roslyn Toontas said, “It was imperative to provide bread and beans to those who depended on the mall shops for cheaper loaves of bread since Alexandra’s doorstep mall, Pan African shopping centre was looted.”

Alexandra’s peace ambassador Thabo Mopasi coordinated the distribution of the food to the organisations.
