Beat Makers Market to hold music workshop at Iphutheng
JOBURG – It is our desire to teach children music skills while are still young so they can grow with the skills for a possible music career, says Tema.
The Beat Makers Market, which is a space for ‘music heads’ to learn more about music production, will hold a day-long workshop at Iphutheng Primary School on September 29.
According to Enzo Tema of the Beat Makers Market, the workshop will begin at 08:00 at the school and will last the whole day.
Tema, who spoke to Alex News at the launch of the 29th edition of the Arts Alive International Festival at Joburg Theatre, said as the saying goes ‘iskhumba sgotshwa sisemanzi’ [teach them young] is what ‘we would like to do with our kids – teach them music while they are young so they can grow with it’.
He said the schools programme of Beat Makers Market was their own contribution towards the cultivation and development of music within the young generation.
“We want to make sure we build the music skills in children in our kids so they can grow with know-how which should be able to stand them in good stead for a future career in music,” Tema said.
Each year of the festival, Beat Makers Market chooses a school in one of the regions of Johannesburg and this time it was the turn of Region E and Iphutheng was then selected for the workshop, Tema added.
