Alex crèche hosts fundraising concert
ALEXANDRA – We also want to use music as a form of therapy for our children, says centre Manager Lunga Ncube.
Children of Boitumelong Early Learning Centre on 6th Avenue, Alexandra, will host their fifth annual fundraising concert next month.
Manager of the centre Lunga Ncube said the main aims of the concert is to raise funds and market the crèche. It will be hosted at Marlboro Hall at 13:00, October 10 and cost R50 for adults, R20 for learners and R10 for children.
The more than 90 children of the centre, aged 18 months to six years, will perform various dances, sing, mime and also use sign language as part of their performances.
Besides fundraising and marketing the crèche, Ncube said music was ‘the food of love’ as they would like to foster ‘a culture of love, care, respect and tolerance’ in young children especially.

“We also would like to use music as a form of therapy for our children to help in their holistic development, socially, and in areas such as listening ability and motor skills,” Ncube said.
Ncube explained, “[Music is one of the tools] we use during the learning process of our children to soothe and heal their souls while at the same time helping to boost their confidence and self-esteem.”
