Alex entrepreneurs urged to pitch their business ideas

JOBURG – Entrants are required to email a two-minute video recording of themselves pitching their business idea.

The Gibs Entrepreneurship Development Academy in partnership with the SAB Foundation, will host the 8th annual Festival of Ideas Competition at the academy’s campus on November 25.

This during Global Entrepreneurship Month and the academy is calling on aspirant entrepreneurs in Alexandra to take advantage and stand to win a share of the R35 000 in prize money.

The event is part of an international festival of entrepreneurship that aims to connect entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and ecosystem players, and provides a platform to showcase sound business ideas that drive a social or environmental mission to achieve social change.

Aspirant social entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their unique business ideas to a panel f experts for a chance to win a share of the cash prizes. Since winning the competition, last year’s winner Kabelo Mahlobogwane moved his business, The Marking App, from ideation to prototype stage and has gone on to work on a partnership with the Microsoft Foundation.

Entrants are required to email a two-minute video recording of them pitching their business idea to academy@gibs.co.za. They are also urged to include their full names, WhatsApp telephone number and email address in addition to your recorded message and entries close at midnight on November 10.
