Angof to activate NGO office for its members in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Founder and president of the organisation, Patrick Baloyi confirmed that all positions in the organisation are interim as a lead-up to Angof's elective conference in the first quarter of next year.

The trail-blazing Alexandra NGO Foundation (Angof) will activate an office space in January next year from which it will run all the affairs of the township NGOs as the umbrella body.

This was said by the founder and president of Angof Patrick Baloyi. He said he had been offered office space by a still-to-be-announced organisation – once all loose ends have been tied up, he will share more details. “All I can say now is that we have received an offer office as of January next year.”

He said the office will be used to run the affairs of Angof in its service to the NGO community of the township. “We shall also use it to empower and train the NGOs to learn to fish for themselves as opposed to the act of constantly being offered fish as is the norm with other organisations.”

Angof has more than 100 member organisations in its group and members will be expected to raise their hands in the group if they would like to interact with the office or attain empowerment sessions and training. “Once members raise their hands to come over to the office, they will be expected to leave a minimum of R20 on the table, which will go towards running the office and other necessities.”

Baloyi indicated that as a lead-up to Angof’s elective conference in the first quarter of next year, all positions within the organisation are considered interim and will be confirmed by the elective conference.
