Alex Men’s Forum’s Mphephu finally receives his award
ALEXANDRA – Mphephu is one of the South Africans that have received this award, including the late former President Nelson Mandela.
Rotary Community Corp has finally managed to hand the Paul Harris Fellow recognition award to the chairperson of the Alex Men’s Forum, Charles Mphephu (41).
He was recognised earlier in the year for his role in community work in Alexandra over many years, but due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and the subsequent hard lockdown, Mphephu was unfortunately not able to receive his award from Switzerland.
It finally made its way to South African shores and was presented to him in a small ceremony last week.
When a person is recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow, they are presented with a certificate signed by the Rotary International president and the chairman of the trustees of The Rotary Foundation, and a lapel pin and medallion.
The Paul Harris Fellow accolade is the highest accolade in Rotary and it can be given to a Rotarian member or a member of the community who has made a significant contribution to the community. The late former President Nelson Mandela also received this award.
The Men’s Forum works with multiple community-based organisations which are committed to fighting gender-based violence and femicide.
