Realogile may become 2nd ICT school in Alex
ALEXANDRA – Mopasi says the full rollout of the project depends on the buy-in of the parents, especially around the safety of the gadgets.
Realogile High School may soon become the second school in the township after Alex High to be declared a full Information and Communications Technology (ICT) school.
The project is an initiative of the Gauteng Department of Education that seeks to transform schools in the province into ICT learning centres.
According to Alex educational issues monitor Thabo Mopasi, a meeting was held with parents and Grade 8 learners to brief them on how to care for their new smartphones that they will be using.
Mopasi said this was the third pilot project to be undertaken in the township. The second was at East Bank High School where it was discontinued as parents did not want to take responsibility to ensure the safety of the phones.
“Once the project proves to be workable, it will be fully rolled out at Realogile and the school will become the second school to be declared a full ICT learning centre.
“The meeting went well and we can look forward to the school becoming the second ICT institution in the township,” Mopasi said.
