Vehicle recovered in 19th Avenue following hijacking in Alex
ALEX – "The suspects are unknown but the vehicle was taken to Aeroton where it was dusted for fingerprints."
A hijacking case that took place on February 10 at around 12:00 is being investigated by Alexandra police detectives.
According to the spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant was driving a white Nissan NP200 with registration number JP90FHGP along 16th Avenue when he was suddenly blocked by an Avanza with four men inside. The four men then approached his vehicle carrying firearms.
“One of the men fired one round into the air and then all the guns were pointed at him. The suspects took R2 000 from the driver and a cellphone that is worth R500. They then drove off with the complainant’s vehicle which was later recovered in 19th Avenue, not far from the scene of the crime.
“The suspects are unknown but the vehicle was taken to Aeroton where it was dusted for fingerprints.”
The investigation is ongoing.
