Yanda Cosmetics on the move in Alex
ALEXANDRA – Products are made for sensitive skin which then work for all skin types, says Majola.
Ayanda Majola’s struggles with sensitive skin became a major driving force for her establishment of a niche cosmetics company that manufactures products for people with sensitive skin.
Her younger sister battled with eczema and this further fuelled her burning ambition she finally established Yanda Cosmetics in March 2021 as an online-only trading company that operates from her Alex family home just behind the Alex Mall.
Majola, a 21-year-old future medical scientist who is doing her second year of a four-year course in medical science at Vaal University of Technology (VUT), said people order her products online and she dispatches them to her clients.
A matriculate of the Class of 2017 at Sandtonview High School in Bramley Park, Sandton, said she spends much of her time at VUT in the laboratory, doing diagnostics on samples sent by doctors to the institution.

“This also taught me mixing skills for my products, which are totally chemical-free but not organic, and I mix them manually. I have a range of 10 beauty products which are mainly facial skincare products,” Majola told Alex News in an interview.
“I base the products on sensitive skin which then also work for all skin types, including those with ailments such as eczema or any other skin problems.
“The desire to start a cosmetics company started when I was still at school after I battled with pimples that were caused by chemical-infused products that we were using at home while my younger sister suffered from eczema.”
The Alex-born Majola harbours ambitions of growing her company and making her products also easily available in retail stores and other outlets, although the products are currently available at Take-A-Lot, Zando and Makro but still online.
After mixing the products, Majola said it takes her about two weeks to balance the PH and also do tests on her own skin after which she then makes the products available for sale.
“I market them on all the social media platforms and in certain instances use some of the influencers to sell the products,” she added.
