Sex with minors is a serious rape offence, warns Alex police
The suspect was arrested and charged with statutory rape, said Commander Brigadier Lindiwe Magudulela.
A 42-year-old Alex man has been arrested on allegations of sexually molesting three young girls aged between 13 and 15 years at his 16th Avenue home.
The case was reported to the police by community patrollers and Alexandra Police Station Commander Brigadier Lindiwe Magudulela confirmed the arrest, saying the police went to the man’s home and found the three girls.
“When Captain Legodi arrived at the scene, he found the three girls, and the 15-year-old girl admitted to having a sexual relationship with the 42-year-old man,” Magudulela said.
According to Magudulela, the suspect was interrogated by the police and admitted to having sexual relationship with the 15-year-old girl on three occasions.
He claimed to have been supporting her since she dropped out of school, Magudulela added.
