Alex’s star to feature in a poetry show in Maboneng

Intsika Creatives will be hosting a poetry show in Maboneng on June 4, which will feature Alex’s Refilwe ‘Fifi’ Pieterse.

Khayakazi Luduli, the co-founder of Intsika Creatives said, as the creatives, they are a community-based arts organisation and they promote arts.

“The project was started when Shaman Chant, who is a poet and co-founder of the Intsika Creatives, indicated that he would like to have a one-man show. We couldn’t accommodate him on his own, so we called our friends in art and they agreed to be part of the show and that is how the show started,” she said.

“We wish to grow the show to provide multiple platforms for artists to showcase their craft as we are well aware that some rely solely on arts to survive. We teach young children and the youth about theatre, music, and dance and then also promote artists with events

“On the day of the show we are bringing artists from the Eastern Cape, Cape Town, Durban, and Fifi from Alex, who I personally know to be an ambassador for the arts, as well as Kush Mahleka, who is a poet and one of the greatest performers.”

Luduli said the aim of the show is for them as artists to showcase their craft with their performances and support each other as they have observed that artists from the local level suffer a lot to be recognised in the artistic industry.
