Gomtown goal poacher is the Top Dog
Gomtown Boyz's Lwando Mcosana was awarded the ANLFA Golden Boot Award after banging 23 goals for his side during the ANLFA Promotional League which ended on June 12.
Lwando Mcosana of Gomtown Boyz FC, whose club’s nickname is The Top Dogz, banged in 23 goals to become the ‘Top Dog’ of the ANLFA Promotional League of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association’s 2022 season.
Mcosana, who turns 29 in September, is a former ‘Top Dog’ who played for some of the leading teams such as Alex Black Aces, Alex United and Polokwane City. He joined Gomtown to help motivate the team’s young ‘dogz’ to up their game as they may be noticed by talent scouts.
“My other goal was to help the youngsters win the promotional league so the club could step one rung up in their quest and journey to elite football in the Premier Soccer League.
“Though we did not win promotion, I will continue to work with my teammates to improve our game, and maybe one day luck will be on our side,” Mcosana told Alex News soon after receiving his ANLFA Golden Boot Award.
Mcosana, who said he was still available if other top teams needed his services, said he would like to dedicate the trophy to his teammates at The Top Dogz and to his personal trainer Sibusiso Qwabe who ‘puts in all he has to ensure I achieve the desired fitness to perform at my best and not forgetting followers of The Top Dogz’.
