Kew Action Group joins Alex makeover

The Kew Action Group has joined the We Love Alexandra Community Makeover Project to tidy up Alexandra in a bid to renew the township and attract investors to the township.

The Kew Action Group, whose role mainly revolves around keeping the suburb tidy, has joined forces with the We Love Alexandra Community Makeover Project in an effort to help clean up the township.

Ruggero Greech-Cumbo, a director of the group said the organisation was keen to start working on the clean-up and rejuvenation project in the township.

“By cleaning up Alex, this will partly create a favourable environment that has the potential to persuade investors to invest their money in the township and at the same time easily source the labour required.

“We are ready to get our hands dirty by beginning the work once all the ducks are in a row,” said Greech-Cumbo.

Linda Twala, president of the makeover project, said Alex contributed immensely to the freedom of this country but it remained marginalised and dilapidated.

“We need to de-densify Alex through the acquisition of some pieces of land in Frankenwald, Linbro Park and Kelvin. We need the land to build our own varsity and take our children away from drugs and other forms of mischief which are rife in the township,” Twala said.
