A good samaritan in Alex aims to deliver children from hunger
Alex non-profit company that feeds the needy is in need of funds.
Lerato Baneng Foundation is a feeding scheme founded by Alex’s Caroline Ngwasheng whose best interest at heart lies in children.
Ngwasheng said she decided on the name Lerato Baneng because she loves the children, and it pains her to see children having to go to school on empty stomachs or not going to school at all due to the fact that they don’t have school uniforms.
“The foundation was formed in 2018 to provide nutritional help for needy children, our aim has always been to provide the children with lunch boxes that they will get every morning on their way to school, and after school, they fetch their lunch,” explained Ngwasheng.

She said in 2019 she fell sick which made her stop cooking for the children. In late 2021 when she felt better she decided to resume as she got an offer from a company (due to her sickness she has forgotten the name of the company) that offered to donate food.
When the food ran out, again she stopped as she doesn’t have any source of income or funding to help.
“What is bothering me now is the fact that we are no longer consistent – today we might have food and the next day we have nothing at all and this hurts me because I only think of the children I must feed,” she added.
“My plea is to get a sponsor because I envisioned this idea and would like to see it thrive. I planned on adding educational support for the children, where they will have tutors helping them with the homework when they come to get their lunch after school.”
