New Alex makeover project board constituted

The We Love Alexandra Community Makeover Project has a new board following the dissolution of its predecessor which is said to have failed to make progress on its mandate.

A new board of the We Love Alexandra Community Makeover Project has been constituted after the previous board’s failure to make progress on its mandate led to its dissolution.

Leading Alex philanthropist and community builder Linda Twala is the only surviving member of the old board who remains the chairperson while his deputy currently in an acting capacity is Bonisile Kunene.

Tebogo Beea, son to the late struggle icon Mike Beea who passed away on March 3, 2021, heads the Safety and Security Committee, with Banele Sangcozi on the Education Committee, while Mush Raletjena is on the Infrastructure Committee.

Gcina Twala, the youngest daughter of Linda Twala, heads the Youth Committee, with Tshepo Mukwevho on the Elderly and People with Disabilities Committee while Brenda Sibiya is chair of the Clean-up and Beautification Committee.

The new members of the board of the makeover project are Mush Raletjena, Ramatamo Sehoai, Brenda Sibiya, SA Day CEO Dr Bheki Shongwe, Tebogo Beea, a lady named only as Nhlanhla but has since resigned, and Banele Sangcozi.

The Marketing and Community Relations Committee is headed by Ramatamo Sehoai, who told Alex News in an interview that the makeover project was in the process of forming sub-committees that would serve to strengthen the main committees of the organisation.

Sehoai reiterated that South Africa Day, which is a non-profit company run by CEO Dr Bheki Shongwe, was still fully behind the makeover project but wants the community of Alexandra to run with it so that the SA Day plays more of an advisory role to the makeover project.

“Project fundraiser and Sandton businessman Chris Hart was hard at work trying to galvanise the Sandton business community to support the noble initiatives of the makeover project.

“The project itself is now at an advanced stage of its rollout as blocks of bite-size chunks will soon be devised and formulated to advance the beautification and makeover campaign,” Sehoai said.
