Her death has left a profound void in the lives of her loved ones, but her legacy of love, support, and family bonds will resonate for generations, her husband said.
Twala described his late wife as a nurturing matriarch, dedicating her life to her family, including her two children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Her devotion and care extended beyond her immediate family; she was the backbone that supported her husband’s initiatives in the community, even though she was not directly involved in the care of the elderly, Twala added.

“Iva was not just my wife, she was my life partner. Her unwavering support and love gave me the strength to pursue my dreams, including establishing Phuthaditjaba Care of the Aged. Her spirit will live in the love she sowed in our family,” Twala said.
The couple built a life together grounded on the values of care, love, and community support. Twala remembers his wife as a source of warmth, often using her sense of humour to lighten even the heaviest of days.
“No matter the day or the challenge, Iva found a way to make us laugh. She had an extraordinary ability to bring people together, and that is a legacy I will cherish forever,” Twala said, adding that a memorial service will be held at Marlboro Hall on the morning of Iva’s burial.
