Emirates appreciates teachers from Alexandra’s Carter and Gordon Primary Schools for their hard work
In recognition of the work they do with the children of one of the most impoverished townships, Emirates gifted teachers with limited-edition backpacks.
It’s not so often that teachers are appreciated for their dedication and hard work in nurturing and moulding young learners to ascend to the top echelons of power and leadership positions in society.

But one organisation has seen fit to honour and spoil more than 100 teachers with gifts in the form of limited-edition backpacks from its second ‘Air crafted by Emirates’ repurposed luggage collection.
The honoured teachers come from Alexandra’s Carter and Gordon Primary Schools, and Emirates regional manager for Southern Africa Afzal Parambil described honouring the teachers as part of the airline’s commitment to building bridges that connect it with communities in the destinations it serves.
“Since our first flight to Johannesburg in 1995, we have invested in scaling our operations and developing South Africa’s tourism sector. Much like travel, education broadens the mind and brings immeasurable value to society.

“Celebrating these shared values, we wanted to show our appreciation for the teachers in one of Johannesburg’s most impoverished townships. We are proud to enrich the communities we serve,” he added.
As part of World Teachers Day, Parambil said the Emirates team based in Johannesburg visited two schools in the township which play a crucial role in shaping young minds and providing the next generation with tools to build a better future.
“It means a lot to us to have our hard work, dedication, and sacrifices recognised,” said one of the teachers in appreciation of the gift. “We are grateful to the Emirates team for hand-picking our school. We don’t often get recognition for the work we do within the communities we work in.
“Emirates has shown our learners that through hard work, they too can be recognised for their efforts and become key players and role models in their communities regardless of their backgrounds. And we hope this is the start of a long-lasting relationship.”
