Alex Tigers pulled of a passionate 3–0 victory against the Rovers Academy at Alex Stadium.

The home side, entering into the second half with a 2–0 lead over the Rovers, played an intense game, keeping pressure applied on the visiting goalkeeper, Lusindiso Tshefu. Even though Tshefu was able to block a rather perfectly executed kick for goal, soon after, the home side’s perseverance earned them their third goal, ultimately ending the match with a 3–0 win.

Tigers striker Ronaldo Mahumane (white) tries to get a fourth goal for his side, but Rovers goalkeeper Lusindiso Tshefu (green) was saved embarrassment as the shot went too wide.

The Rovers players were in perfect form throughout the game, executing perfect steals and crosses. The visiting side’s defence was also seemingly impenetrable, at first. However, little could have prepared the Rovers for the lightning-quick Tigers on a quest to leave the field untamed by the Rovers.

The Rovers played an impressive, passionate game of football, and coach Simon Kubayi felt his players did great out on the field – conceding that the Royal Tigers were the better team on the day.

“To be honest, we played against a good team. We came back strong in the second half and closed up the spaces the Tigers were creating. To be honest, and I hate to say this, the boys really tried in this heat. I’m proud of them,” Kubayi said.
