Help social development track down children’s parents
Alex community members are asked to come forward if anyone can help reconnect these children with their surviving parents, or care takers.

The Department of Social Development’s Johannesburg Decentralised Service Office (JDSO) has granted permission to publish the names of the following children in an attempt to trace any parent/guardian/care-giver of the said children in terms of Section 74 of the Children’s Act, No 38 of 2005.

• Referenced case, W. 221582: Sebatane Judith Maswanganye was born on August 3, 2015. The child’s biological mother, Alinah Maswanganye, is deceased. The child concerned is currently under the foster care of Thulani Mogano: and the whereabouts and identity of the biological father is unknown to the family.
• Referenced case, W. 201327: Tshepiso Rethabile Mafatle was born on June 2, 2016. The child’s biological mother Lerato Wendy Mafatle is deceased. Currently, they are under the care of foster parent Kedibone Dorah Mafatle, and the child’s biological father is unknown to the foster family.
• Referenced case, W. 221291: Khaviso Tricia Rivele was born on May 13, 2012 to biological mother Tsakani Patience Rivele, who is deceased. The child is in the foster care of Nelly Shimlah Mugabi, to whom the biological father is unknown.
• Referenced case, W. 208721: Ofentse Esaleone Olwethu Poo (born January 24, 2018) and their elder sibling Omolemo Olerato Poo (born April 7, 2011) lost their biological mother, Mmamule Sophie Poo. The children concerned are under the foster care of their maternal aunt Idah Mmaphala Poo. The identity and whereabouts of their biological father is unknown to the foster family.

The permission to publish this information was granted by the presiding officer for the Children’s Court at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on November 12, 2024. Presiding social worker Nomcebo Samhere asks that anyone with information which can assist with reconnecting the children with their surviving relatives or caregivers contact her on 066 291 3481.
