All matches in the Safa Johannesburg Hollywoodbeats Regional League (Yellow Stream) scheduled for the weekend of February 22 and 23 were postponed due to persistent rain affecting the pitches from February 17-20.
This decision was made to ensure the safety of players and officials, as the wet conditions rendered the pitches unsuitable for play.

The rescheduled matches, including the highly anticipated Alex-derby between Gomtown Boyz and Rangers FC, will now take place on March 2. This derby is particularly significant for fans and players alike, as it represents a fierce local rivalry.
However, the communication regarding the postponement did not reach all teams in time. As a result, several teams from Alexandra, including Ma-Africa, Gomtown Boyz, and United Stars, arrived at the stadium over the weekend, only to find out that their games had been called off. This led to a disappointing experience for the players and supporters who had been looking forward to the matches.
Among those teams, Gomtown Boyz, affectionately known as The Top Dogz, participated in practice sessions. The team’s secretary and co-founder, Mush Raletjena, emphasised the importance of their upcoming matches, stating that it will be crucial for the team to secure maximum points in their next encounters.

“We are building a team for next season, but I will finish the strong,” Raletjena expressed, highlighting the team’s commitment to both current performance and future development.
As it stands, Gomtown Boyz is currently positioned ninth in the league table after playing 17 matches, accumulating a total of 25 points. They share the same point total as their local rivals, United Stars, who are sitting just below them in 10th place.
Other Alexandra teams are also in the mix. Mighty Heroes currently holds the eighth position with 26 points after playing 18 games, while Alex Black Poison is in 11th place with 23 points from 17 matches. Meanwhile, Rangers FC is in a strong position, fighting for the title with 33 points, placing them fifth in the standings after 17 games.
Before the postponed matches are held on March 2, each team will have the opportunity to play at least one league encounter. Rangers FC will host Indlovu on March 1, setting the stage for their derby clash with Gomtown Boyz the following day. Similarly, Black Poison is set to host Prestige Football Academy on March 1 before making a trip to face La Masia Elite the next day.
Ma-Africa will also be active during this period, visiting La Masia on March 1 before returning to play their postponed match against Armor FC at Alex Stadium on March 2.
Before engaging in the much-anticipated derby against Rangers on March 2, Gomtown Boyz will first need to make the journey to Diepsloot to face Armor FC on March 1.
This busy schedule will test the teams’ resilience and readiness as they navigate the challenges for promotion to the Safa second division, ABC Motsepe League.
