Pageant star is rising with purpose
Miss Gauteng Exclusive 2025 finalist Rubina Burnham is turning pageantry into a platform for real change.
Rising to the glamorous platforms of South African pageantry is Rubina Burnham. A certified remote pilot, model, mentor, and passionate advocate for youth empowerment, Burnham is using her platform to uplift others and spark meaningful change.
Her mission is not only to seize crowns and sashes, but to forge partnerships with organisations to transform the lives of young people. Her partnership with Families South Africa is already poised to tackle the ailing issue of deteriorating mental health among Alexandra’s youth. Burnham aims to help create safe spaces for young people to speak out, heal, and thrive.

To Burnham, modelling is not about glitz and glamour; it is a stage for authenticity and impact. “Modelling is about giving individuals a platform to express themselves and show the world who they are. It is about starting where you are, and, through time and effort, building yourself to be the man or woman you want to be.’
Beyond self-expression, she views modelling as a channel to illuminate pressing societal issues. “In pageantry, when it is time to speak or act, there is always someone watching and listening. Even if it’s just one person, that moment can create awareness and spark change.”
This belief fuels her commitment to advocacy, especially for children. Her Start Strong campaign provides essentials like food, toiletries, and clothing to those in need. “I advocate for child-centred support for dignity in education, helping kids get the needs they deserve so they can feel confident, stay in school, and learn without having to worry.”
Burnham entered the modelling scene in 2023 when she joined Sipho Sethu Arts Project (SSAP), making it to the top 6 of the Mr and Miss SSAP pageant. Just a year later, she took on the Mr and Miss Royal Elegance Pageant, and earned the Brand Ambassador title.
Today, she stands proudly as a Miss Gauteng Exclusive 2025 finalist, and she continues to lead by example and inspire with determination.
