Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage finds their 2025 king and queen
Alexandra’s cultural identity took centre stage on Saturday as Lesedi Mokgoshing and Philasande Bophela were crowned the 2025 queen and king of the Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage pageant.
Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage crowned their 2025 king and queen at the King’s Cinema on Saturday.
Lesedi Mokgoshing, a proud Sotho girl, was crowned queen, while Philasande Bophela, a proud Zulu gentleman, took the title of king. Joining them on the royal court were Mbalenhle Ngwenya and Pholoso Moshobane, named first and second princesses respectively.

Rooted in South Africa’s diverse heritage, the event drew residents, performers, and sponsors into a festive space filled with traditional music, dance, and storytelling. Contestants graced the stage in elegant cultural attire, embodying the values and pride of Alexandra’s community.
Between segments, the audience was treated to performances by local talent, including Lion of Judah, Mathamnandi, Sintu Dance Group, John Cena, and Tshwarang Dance.
Mokgoshing expressed her joy and sense of responsibility as the newly crowned queen. “I am very happy to start my journey as a queen and to lead, by example, all the other young girls out there.” She also thanked her parents for their unwavering support.

Bophela shared his surprise and gratitude. “I am really excited. When I came here, I didn’t think I was going to be crowned king. I came with doubts, but when I walked across that stage, I felt the support from everyone in the room.”

Founder of the pageant Hlehle Ngubane reflected on the challenges and triumphs of hosting the event. “I am happy and grateful it is a success. The biggest challenge is when parents are unable to come and support their children.”
She closed by thanking the supporters who continue to uplift the pageant and its mission to celebrate Alexandra’s youth and heritage.
