City Power to conduct meter reading and audit in Region E
Residents have been warned to be vigilant as criminals may take advantage and pose as City Power contractors and a number has been provided for them to verify the people on their gates if need be.
City Power will conduct meter readings and auditing for domestic customers in Region E from January 25 to February 1 in areas that will include Kew, Bramley, Lyndhurst, Lombardy East and West, Sandringham, Illovo, Atholl and Wynberg.
“We appeal to our residents to allow City Power-appointed contractors to access their properties for this task. We are aware of safety concerns during this process, as criminals could take advantage of this by presenting themselves as City Power personnel or contractors,” said power utility spokesperson Isaac Mangena.
City Power has also cautioned domestic customers not to open their properties to any individual who does not have the identification stated in the communication.
The City Power meter readers will carry ID cards with the full names and pictures of the individuals. The ID cards will identify the individual as a City Power contractor and the individual will wear either a brown or blue overall.
These details can be verified by contacting the City Power security control room on 011 490 7553/7504/7900/7911.
Customers who might not be available during this period are encouraged to submit their meter readings and attach a picture to the following email addresses as our system is currently unable to record readings remotely.
