Men and fatherhood to be highlighted on SABC 2
For the coming six weeks, SABC 2 will present Heartlines’ Fathers Matter movies that seek to change the narrative about men and fatherhood.
Produced by Positive Pictures in partnership with SABC 2 and Heartlines, the six-part film series will air every Saturday at 20:30 from September 17 and aims to serve as a catalyst to inspire and encourage men – and society at large – to be part of a movement of fathers who are positively involved in the lives of their children.

Entertainment journalists were treated to a preview of the first two episodes of the films, one of which will break the water on September 17 while the other follows on the week of September 24.

The first film of compelling storytelling entitled Family Portrait revolves around Ebenhaezer Dibakwane known in the movie as Ayize, who is a struggling artist who suddenly becomes a new father when his girlfriend Nomvula (Lebohang Mthunzi) has a baby.

He is devoted to both her and their baby girl, Zenzile, but he must prove to his rather terrifying and tough mother-in-law Cecilia (Pascaline Phale) that he is good enough to be a good dad, even though he can’t provide financially.

The second movie, In Time, is about Lerumo (Aubrey Mmakola), a gold miner who works in a mine far away from his wife Amanda and daughter Bokamoso (Mpule Matlhola). Lerumo is a loving and devoted father who spares nothing to show up for his child.

When his daughter is offered an opportunity to race in front of top university recruiters for an athletics scholarship, he is determined to do anything he can to be on the sidelines cheering her on. But many obstacles threaten to throw him off track. Can he make it in time?
