Alexandra’s Charles Mphephu shares notes with his activists’ counterparts in Spain

Alexandra Peace Ambassador secretary general Charles Mphephu, flew out of South Africa on October 9 for a week-long visit to Barcelona and Seville in Spain to meet with other activists to share notes on peace and democracy-building in communities.

The secretary general of the Alexandra Peace Ambassador Charles Mphephu, who is also the chairperson of the Alex Men’s Forum flew out on October 9 for Spain.

Mphephu, who is also a community liaison officer of the #NoExcuse anti-gender-based violence programme in the township, will be wearing his peace ambassador jacket at the meetings where he will engage with other world activists involved in various community-based movements to share notes on their journeys so far and whether Alexandra could learn and improve its own advocacy programmes.

While in the cities of Barcelona and Seville, Mphephu, a multi-award-winning anti-gender-based violence activist with the Men’s Forum and the #NoExcuse movement, will meet various royal families in Spain to discuss issues of activism against gender-based violence and possible investment opportunities in the same sphere in Alexandra and the broader Johannesburg.

Mphephu returns home over the coming weekend. “As the community of Alexandra, we are proud of the work he continues to do within the community whose programmes are also a vehicle for peace and democracy-building in the township,” said Thabo Mopasi, president of the Alexandra Peace Ambassadors movement.
