Disadvantaged Alex children have the time of their lives at Gold Reef City

Disadvantaged children from Alexandra have the time of their lives at Gold Reef City courtesy of donors such as Afrika Tikkun, Smile Foundation, Keeping the Wolf from the Door, Phuthaditjaba Centre, and iNtsika Ye Sizwe Foundation's Adopt a Child Programme and Thabo Mpiti and Associates.

The Phuthaditjaba Afrika Tikkun Centre in Alexandra took more than 500 disadvantaged children to Gold Reef City for games and the time of their lives.

Renowned philanthropist and father of the Alexandra Township, Linda Twala said all tickets were sponsored through sponsors such as Afrika Tikkun, Smile Foundation, Keeping the Wolf from the Door, in coordination with the Phuthaditjaba Care of the Aged and Disabled and iNtsika Ye Sizwe Foundation’s Adopt a Child Programme.

Thabo Mpiti and Associates came to the rescue of the centre with a bus to transport the children. “We really struggled and wish that in future, we could receive more support with transport for the children,” Twala told Alex News as the excited children left his home for Gold Reef City.

Twala said he was hoping to organise a helicopter ride for 600 children. “We are trying to raise around R90 000 for this initiative which also teaches the children about aviation. We are requesting for people to again adopt a child and help build them into the leaders of the future,” Twala added.

The philanthropist said he was ‘truly thankful to all those that made the Gold Reef City trip possible and wished the Almighty to bless them all abundantly’.
