Odirile Lesejane plans to make waves through his hip-hop tour that commences in September

Alex's own Odirile Lesejane to tour around Gauteng and promote hip-hop music and culture in the surrounding townships.

Odirile Lesejane, born in the outskirts of Rustenburg, North West in a village called Pella, is an example of starting from the bottom. He is now a promoter, fashion designer, former radio presenter and actor that currently resides in Alex.

He started his organising business when he realised that he had a passion for managing youngsters. His movement called the Hip-Hop Kraal Tour started in his hometown. Given the state of unemployment in South Africa, Lesejane had to find ways to sustain himself and his family. He had to merge his skills, hard work and his talent to make something out of himself.

“I started recording music at the age of 16 back when I was still in Morare High School. I then moved to Mpumalanga to study IT at the PC Training and Business College but because I no longer had the funds, I unfortunately had to pause my studies.

“The Hip-Hop Kraal started off as a radio show in North West at Village FM, a local radio station and aired for 10 months in 2020. I continued with it as a platform for creatives and a brand on its own. I started hosting the Hip-Hop Kraal events in 2021. At the beginning of this year we embarked on a tour that started in North West from February till April and now continues in Joburg from September till November with confirmed gigs and dates.”

The Hip-Hop Kraal Tour that Odirile Lesejane plans to make the biggest movement to happen for local artists.

His love for culture and wanting to see good and better for the budding artists inspired him to create this platform as a pathway to being recognised.

“The aim is to get the local artists that I promote on platforms outside their normal environment and to be known through all nine provinces by next year. The tour features local artists upcoming and well known and is sponsored by Sty Fresh and Les Entity. ”

Dreams delayed are not dreams denied, as Lesejane found other means to survive with what he had. “I have been focusing on my music until 2014 – that’s when I started hosting events. Besides hosting events I run my clothing brand business Sty Fresh which I founded in 2017.”

Lesejane dreams of being known all over the world. “I see myself as a well-respected, acknowledged entrepreneur one day and on the covers of the world-renowned magazines.”
