Itlhokomeleng Home honours the late Dudu Moropa

Residents, staff, community members and family of the late Dudu Moropa gathered at Itlhokomeleng to pay tribute to Moropa chairperson of the residents' committee, and outreach programme's minister.

Itlhokomeleng recently held a touching memorial service to pay tribute to the late Dudu Moropa, who was described as a pillar of strength for the community and a dedicated advocate for the elderly.

Moropa (78), who served as the chairperson of the residents’ committee within the home and as a minister for the outreach programme offered at Itlhokomeleng, left a lasting impact on the lives of many. She was buried on May 11.

Residents, staff, community members and Moropa’s family gathered to pay their respects and share fond memories of Dudu’s compassionate nature and tireless commitment to improving the lives of those in need.

The late Moropa’s sister Lillian Petersen said, “I thank you my sister for the love you showed me. I don’t know who will buy groceries for me but who am I to go against God’s will. May your precious soul rest in peace, sister. Yes, you are gone but not forgotten.”

Founder and CEO of Itlhokomeleng Old Age Home Dr Marjorie Manganye said Moropa was a woman of God who loved people and was good at giving pieces of advice.

“Mme Dudu was a chairperson of the residents, and the residents would share whatever they wanted to share with her. She worked like a professional. When you started speaking like you were hurt in front of her, she would give you words of advice referring to the quotes from the Bible.

“When we held prayer sessions here at the home Mme Dudu was the one who was preaching the Word of God to the elderly. She was always smiling, a positive and determined woman who was goal-driven regardless of her age,” Marjorie said.

Moropa’s friend Nkepile Masite said, “Mme Dudu was a friendly person who used to teach people the Word of God. This woman believed in prayer even when you tell her about your problems she would advise you to kneel and cry to God.

“Among the things I learned from her was love. Moropa loved everyone; she would even call us on our birthdays. She reached out with rhapsodies for adults, teevos for the youth and early readers for the children at daycare centres,” Masite said.
